All that glitters is not gold. From a fan’s perspective, the life of a celebrity seems glamorous and genuinely extravagant. However, this isn’t always true. The people we see and hear on TV are also human and often fall behind on their bills like you, and I do.
Let’s talk about some celebrities who faced foreclosures:
Nadya Suleman
Nadya is an American celebrity who became famous in mainstream media after giving birth to octuplets back in January 2009. Before this, she was a mother of six. Later she decided to undergo in-vitro fertilization and yielded eight newborns, only to become famous as the ‘Octomom.’ The Octomom was then all over the talk shows and tabloids.
However, being a mother to 14 children came at a cost, and Nadya soon saw her financial health deteriorating. Eventually, her house was foreclosed. To stop this from happening, Nadya ran several public campaigns. These included fighting an exhibition boxing match and placing animal birth control signs on her lawn. Unfortunately, none of this helped her raise sufficient funds to pay the outstanding $450,000 mortgage. Eventually, the foreclosure process was underway later in 2011.
Toni Braxton
Toni Michelle Braxton is an American musician, singer, songwriter, actress, record producer, and TV personality. As of 2020, the grammy-winning star has sold as many as 67 million records around the world. Well, grammies don’t help you pay the bills. Despite a thriving music career, Braxon has long been known for her financial woes. It was heartbreaking for fans to see someone whose ‘Un-Break My Heart’ ruled the charts at a point in time to file for bankruptcy protection twice in 2010.
Later in 2011, the U.S. Bankruptcy Court of Los Angeles declared that Braxton’s liquidation from 2010 wasn’t enough to stave off foreclosure proceedings on her Georgia mansion. As quoted by The HuffPost, the estate was put on the market for a whopping $1.1 million!

LaToya Jakson
LaToya Jackson is the fifth and middle-child of the famous Jackson family. She is one of the nine children born to Joe and Katherine Jackson. Although Jackson started her music career as a solo artist in 1980, her success was nowhere near that of the King of Pop who continues to rule our hearts. She was alienated from the rest of the family after posing for the Playboy magazine in 1989. From this point onward, her financial standing started suffering.
Although she appeared in many high-profile reality shows such as the ‘Celebrity Apprentice’ and ‘Armed and Famous,’ none of it was enough to pay the bills. Toward the end of 2009, the Las Vegas Review-Journal reported that Jackson’s Las Vegas condo had gone into default. Besides, multiple liens were placed against the property to pay for delinquency.
